SEND AN EMAIL: Save Federal IMLS Funding for Libraries
We need your help TODAY to tell our elected representatives in the House and Senate, as well as our Governor, that federal funding for libraries through the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) needs to be preserved! In 2024, IMLS provided nearly 2.3 million dollars to fund libraries services for Utahns.
You can customize the email with some specific examples of projects and programs that will have been funded by IMLS including:
Utah Kids Ready to Read
Summer Reading
Bookmobile services to rural Utahns
eMaterials (including Libby)
Blind and Disabled Services
STEM programs
IMLS Supports Rural Utahns
It’s important to note that IMLS funding supports opportunity for rural Utahns. One grant recipient noted the grant had “been extremely beneficial to our library and the small rural community we serve.”
Another noted, “Through this program, we were able to help bridge the digital divide and increase digital literacy in a small rural community where technology was not readily available in every home”
If IMLS funding disappears, many programs and services that directly impact this lives of Utahns will disappear, unless our state officials choose to fund them out of state tax dollars.
Tell Congress to Defend IMLS Funding.
